Former OHS standout and NFL Pro Bowler, Justin Miller, will be in town this weekend for the 2nd Annual “Dream Makers Academy Football Camp” hosted by Owensboro Daviess County Youth Football League.
The two-day camp will be held this Friday and Saturday, July 31st and August 1st, from 4-8pm at Waymond Morris Park (5200 Todd Bridge Rd).
ODCYFL Cheerleading Commissioner Sarah Price graduated with Justin and is coordinating the camp. Between 30-35 players attended the first camp last year. “This year, we wanted to reach out to more kids, so we are providing this camp at a very low cost of $10 for ODCYFL players and $15 for all others to allow more local kids to participate,” Price said.
Price says Miller will be bringing other former college and NFL players with him to conduct the camp.
The camp will be run in a combine style with drills and different stations the players will rotate through. It’s more than just focusing on football skills though, Price said. “Justin will talk to the players about the importance of academics and being a good student. It’s not just athletic skills, it’s also about life skills.”
Last year the camp was one long day. This year, the camp will be broken into two days to avoid the heat and give the players a break.
This event will also be partnered with ODCYFL player evaluations, which are Saturday morning from 9-12:00.
“We hope it’s a fun, exciting weekend for the campers,” Price said.
